Bought this to use on my 16 month old granddaughter's cot. I'm adopting her, she's been with me since she was two weeks old, so I know her needs well enough to make bed-type decisions all the time. The packaging says NOT to be used on toddler beds, but that is due to the gap between the mattress and the rail that can occur if not installed correctly. The track is too wide to fit in the space left by installing the crib track, but I decided to make it work. My granddaughter just moved from crib to crib and got up at 5am and sat in her chair and looked at books! While she could certainly do that, I was uncomfortable knowing that she might be wandering around her room while I slept. it works to fit properly with no dangerous gaps. I simply placed the rail on the inside of the bed's side rail and the bars under the mattress as usual and folded the straps so the retaining washer could wrap around one of the bed rails under the mattress. Your mattress is 5 inches thick and is made of firm foam, allowing enough room for poles without the mattress sitting higher in the air. This is one of the reasons why the manufacturer only wants the slatted bed to be used on a thicker, regular-sized mattress. Also, her bed has a drawer at the bottom, so the front supports hang in the drawers, but that doesn't cause any problems, I use a bookshelf. For a regular crib with no drawer, I imagine the bars would just hang under the bed frame. I'm not sure if the reader will understand my description, but bottom line I was able to get it working. almost perfect on a cot without sacrificing security. It fits snugly and is very durable. So now my little princess is sitting in her bed talking gibberish until I come get her and she can't unroll. See 1 added photo.
