Review on Sennheiser HD 200 Professional Monitoring Headphone: Exceptional Audio Performance for Monitoring Purposes by Amit Kumar ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality exceeds all expectations, I recommend to buy.

Compared to HD 380 pro: at a glance it seems that the plastic is thinner than in the 380s. However, looking closely, you understand that the headphones are assembled with high quality and reliability. There is attention to detail: soft rounds are glued between the headphone case and the plug, and velvet fabric is on the inside of the ear cushions. There are doubts about the reliability of the swivel fastening of the headband to the fork (in the 380s it was metal, here it is plastic). The wire is straight and thinner, which suits me more (in the 380s it is very heavy), it is soft and flexible, it gives the impression of being reliable. The hard insert at the place where the wire enters the earpiece is alarming (a kink is possible). Headphones are lighter than 380s. They sit comfortably on the head and there will be no problems with prolonged use. The ear pads and the headband cushion are stiffer (the material is probably leatherette), they put pressure on the skull a little more, but they don’t cause discomfort, I didn’t notice any sweating in the ears. Sound isolation is better than in the 380s, since the ear cushions are not just wrapping, the ear is sort of inserted inside. I'm not sure I would call these monitor headphones. For example, the 380s have such a flat frequency response that it is impossible to listen to them without equalization. Here, equalization is present "out of the box" and it's good. These headphones are more versatile and are suitable not only for work, but also for listening to music by music lovers and audiophiles (without the additional interference of filters). The sound is carefully shifted towards the upper middle, due to which an impression of openness is created, but without importunity and loudness. The mids are somewhat veiled, I want to add them with an equalizer, and on the contrary, reduce the upper ones, they are a bit too much and they sound somewhat simplified compared to the 380s. The bass is sufficient, but there is a thump on some material. The sound is clear at any volume. There is a lot of space, the scene is solid and clearly localized, even in silence there is some kind of charm. Detail is excellent. The sound is elastic, transparent, powerful and not devoid of tonal balance. With some discount, it can be called thoroughbred, and the price is quite justified.

Pros
  • Ease of construction, build quality, thoroughbred sound
Cons
  • If you do not find fault, then they are not, well, maybe only a non-detachable cable
