This is a shock absorber. It works as it should. The only reason it lost a star is because it was advertised as compatible with the Audio Technica AT-2020 microphone, and while it comes with a lot of frustration and performance, it's pretty hard to deal with. I almost got blisters trying to insert the mic into the mount. On the other hand, the pop screen, which attaches to the microphone with ties, is phenomenal. I think it works well and looks good. So I would give 3 stars for the mount and 5 stars for the pop filter, making a total of 4 stars.
