Super sharp - if you buy this product it's not just to remove clumps but to really comb through each lash for an even fluffy look. This is the sharpest I have found and it replaces my old Kurlash but better. It also combs when the mascara dries, but brushing when you apply mascara to each eye gives the best results (and you can loosen your lashes if you wait for them to dry). You can brush straight up to make your lashes look as long as possible, or sweep them to the side for a butterfly effect while keeping the mascara damp. Be sure to wipe your teeth clean. My advice is to intentionally blink just before brushing so you don't accidentally blink while it's in front of your eye. I'm sure ophthalmologists hate these devices - be careful!
