Most of us know that you can never stop a thoughtful, determined, and organized thief from stealing your car. The trick to keeping your trip (or anything else of value) safe is to make it a more daunting destination than the next. A few years ago I had a hard drive lock that served this purpose. I used it whenever I parked my bike downtown. Until one day (you guessed it) I forgot it was on and went downstairs. From that moment I just used the steering wheel lock and stayed there. Fast forward to now and my friend's bike (Z14 Concourse) was wheeled out of our garage at work where it was parked right next to mine. So I thought, well, the steering lock can be bypassed. Maybe it's time for a cord lock (aka idiot rope) so I don't fall again. And then I found this. It works and it's foolproof (well, for that fool anyway). Yes, I know a thief can defeat it by cutting the brake hose, but it's red and shiny and is an engraved invitation to keep going.
