This mattress pad looks lovely in the box. It seems a step above my waterproof requirements and feels slightly like latex or rubber underneath, although the top feels very soft and comfortable. The bottom of the mattress was very slippery and I couldn't get it to stay on my child's bed before giving up in frustration. He could remain calm after covering the sheet, but I couldn't get him to stop scooting across the top of the mattress. I was also concerned that the protector would make a plastic or rubbery noise when climbed or placed on it. Since the bed he was walking on was literally climbing up, I figured that he would most likely slip off while climbing. It didn't work for my needs, but it doesn't sound like a bad product. But you could use a felt pad or something similar to keep it from slipping so much.
