I wanted to wait a bit before writing this review to see if it really helps or not. My French Bulldog Mali has been suffering from food allergies for a number of years. We went to the vet many times and she had to be given antibiotics and ear drops which she had to take weekly to keep her ear infection from coming back. I did my own research to find out that recurring middle ear infections are often a sign of a food allergy or intolerance. I changed her diet a couple of times trying to get off the chicken and just replace the protein and I didn't see any change until I switched to that diet. Since this wasn't a typical limited ingredient diet, but more of a special diet, I thought it was worth a try as it's a bit cheaper than some of the other options, but slightly more expensive than Purina Beneful or Purina One SmartBlend. I started on Beneful first, then switched to Purina One Smartblend with chicken, then lamb, and those were the dog foods she was allergic to. She was shaking her head the whole time, scratching her ears, biting her legs and rubbing on furniture like she was that bad. I knew I had to do something and not let her suffer, she is my child. The vet didn't mention allergies after we brought her back a few times for ear infections but I'm a responsible pet owner and did my own research to find out. If your dog is allergic, this food is a really good choice. It may be a bit pricey, but the rewards are worth it: your dog will be much happier and healthier. Since switching to this food she is no longer itchy, no longer biting her paws and we have even lost the habit of supporting ear drops from the vet. I couldn't be happier! The quality of life when a dog has an allergy must be absolutely awful. I was determined to continue the transition by paying any amount of money to get my dog back to normal. We also tried Zippy Paws Aller-Immune Gummies around the same time we switched to this dog food, and I still give them to her today. Some of the other reviewers said that this dog food has bugs in it. There were no bugs in our dog food bag and salmon was the first ingredient. Reading the ingredient list is much better compared to some other dog food brands in this category. I cannot recommend this dog food enough and will continue to spend money to give my dog every month. if that means she doesn't have to suffer from itchy skin and ear infections. If you're hesitant to buy this because of all the negative bug reports, I checked my bag carefully and found NO BUGS! Also, Purina has very good quality control and I am loyal to this brand.
