I am a dancer and started out in leather shoes which I felt was a mistake as the leather caught on the dance floor when I tried to turn. They fit great, they are breathable so my feet don't sweat and they roll off nicely. I prefer the split sole because I have some difficulty moving my right foot due to nerve damage in my right foot and I didn't want anything else to interfere with my already limited range of motion. For orientation: I wear street shoes in size 7.5 and normal width. I'm also an avid long-distance runner and marathon runner, so my feet are already used to the beating and a lot of stress, which can contribute to my preferring shoes that many more experienced dancers recommend.
