In college I washed my hands and bathed in water that had been treated with water softener. However, since I used relatively cheap soap, my skin was constantly drying out and was often rough and cracked, especially in the winter months. Throughout college I tried to find better soaps but nothing worked. When I bought a house after college, I lived in an area with hard water and a smell of chlorine, so I bought a water softener/purifier. This resulted in me having the same skin problems as before. The problems got so bad that I wanted to go back to tap water, but I remember buying this product a while ago and started using it. After switching to this soap, my skin cracking problems went away and my skin started to feel better after washing my hands and bathing. The only downside is that since it's a cold press the bar won't last long if you keep running water over it and not using a soap bar/saver. So I use a loofah/sponge when I take a bath to keep the pole out of the water. All in all it's a good product and definitely better quality than the soap/shower gel I've used in the past.
