I keep one of these next to every couch or couch in the house so my kittens have room to stretch and scratch without ruining my furniture and if they have a choice, they have the choice of preferring to scratch every time. It leaves some dirt on the floor but not as much as others I've tried. Having to sweep the scraper a few times a week is a small price to pay to keep cat claws off your furniture.
