Potential Fire Hazard

The first lantern we put batteries in didn't come on. We noticed that the batteries immediately felt hot and smelled burnt. Upon closer inspection, I noticed smoke rising from the control circuit with batteries installed. A closer look at the control circuitry revealed that the solder joint is in contact with one of the battery terminals, causing a short circuit. In the photo soldering and a connection to the battery connector. Note. I separated the two points so the gap is now visible.
