Super until after 7 months it stopped leaking heavily at the bottom. Not recommended. Have bought quite a few humidifiers over the years - 6 from Crane: 1 penguin, 1 duck, 1 frog, 3 elephants (I broke the water tank and replaced it with the 2nd elephant, the 3rd elephant was a gift to someone at their request ) . Also bought 2 small Pure Guardian humidifiers (1 was a .21 gallon 8 x 5 x 9 inch desktop humidifier, 1 is slightly over rounded). Both the 2 elephants and the duck worked great until after 1.5-2 years the fan broke and started making a loud grinding noise and the fog couldn't come out of the lid anymore. Although all of these pet humidifiers are built the same, they don't work in the same way. Penguin and Elephant had the strongest fog, but Penguin had less water bubble noise. Duck is louder than penguin but quieter than elephant. but produced less fog than both. I don't remember the noise level of Frog, but it had the least amount of fog on the highest settings, almost useless, so I immediately returned it. Hated both little Pure Guardian moisturizers. little mist, the tap water made it really uncomfortable (it was my first humidifier and the only one that used tap water. All other humidifiers I've used potable water.) The slightly larger humidifier had big mist, but there was always a lot of water. so either put it on a tray/towel or set the mist to the lowest setting. Crane's Penguin and Elephant produce more fog than Pure Guardians, but they've never had problems with water retention. Conclusion: Crane humidifiers are great and cute, but they only last 1-2 years. I'm still looking for a durable humidifier at a reasonable price. Any suggestions? I'm more than willing to pay more for one that's quiet with powerful fog, no water buildup around the base, and one that lasts for years.
