The fumes from the dye were quite strong, but still to be expected. He forced his eyes to close as the ridge approached. While doing this, try your best to prevent the chemicals from entering the eyeball. I've followed the advice of other reviews and can confirm that jojoba oil on the skin near the lash line helps prevent smudges. Note, however, that immediately after adding the gel, the pigment becomes strong and visible almost immediately. So just be prepared for that. It is important to me that the color penetrates well into the fibers of my eyelashes. Except roots! It's hard to get very close to the lash line without smudging it the first time, at least for me. My little struggle may have to do with my eye shape. (Deep Set/Almond/Light Weighted) And I wasn't sure how much to use. Definitely I will buy again. A month has passed and they have not turned pale. Makes my eyes stand out so subtly without makeup. I felt like I used to look like a boy with no makeup on with my super light, invisible lashes. I can't wait to master this routine for keeping my roots dark. I assume they are gone by now because the oil has seeped onto my lashes a bit and our lashes are slowly growing! Lol I'd rather use something else like a hydrogel for under the eyes and on the eyelid. Also, I will probably use a different product instead of the comb that comes with this set. Like a small angled liner brush. I recommend this product for the price and the quality results!
