Ordered size 8M, which is what I usually wear. Sizing is true for both length and width. I wore them with average thick merino wool hiking socks and the fit was good. They are nice looking enough and seem well made. I wanted inexpensive hiking shoes I could put my own inserts in. The inserts that came in these is removable and inadequate, anyway. Be prepared to replace them. These shoes are a good fit for my average width foot. Toe box is roomy, but not too much so. I took them on a short test hike in my neighborhood park and so far so good. I have issues with foot shifting forward and bumping the front of the inside or my toe rubbing the top of the toe box in many hiking shoes. Neither of those issues occurred in these with my inserts. I tried some slippery rocks and they did ok. For the money, I am pleased. Time will tell, but I am hopeful I can use these for some time to come.
