Ordered these to set the mood and safe lighting in our camper this summer. Despite all the negative reviews, they are great. Anyone who hasn't been able to get them to work probably doesn't understand electricity or how they work. They are certainly not rocket science. When cutting, cut at the marked points. Each connector has two pins and the rope has two wires running down the sides. Slide the connector pins onto/into the wires and tighten the connector. IF they don't turn on, enable them, DISABLE them and try again. As long as the connector pins make contact with the wires in the rope, they should work. PLEASE never unplug or try to plug them in while plugged in. While they're low voltage and won't kill you, they let you know they have power. Still very SAFE and easy for anyone with common sense or mechanical/electrical skills. UPDATE: After only 3 months these lights are starting to fog up and some 3 foot sections have stopped working. However, they were on every night and exposed to a lot of sun during the day. The shorter string of the same lights as under the canopy still worked well and were just as clear as when moored.
