This adapter works great. A bit slow to respond to the login screen but otherwise works great. The video plays normally with no lag. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit. The driver disk was outdated so I had to download a new one. When installing the driver, make sure the adapter is not connected. The program will prompt you to connect. After restarting, your monitor will be available. The adapter does not require an external power supply. I've been using it for a week now, it works fine. My computer has an onboard graphics card and no PCI-E or PCI slots. The computer is basically a laptop tower board. I was pretty limited in what I could do. This adapter fits. I missed the dual monitor setup. I don't have USB 3.0 so I just had to go with 2.0. I'm using a second monitor with a maximum resolution of 1360 x 768. Looks good for what the monitor is capable of. If you are in a similar situation, this will work.
