Nice features, but why 10/100 Ethernet?

I like the device, but I didn't know that the network adapter is 10/100 Ethernet. What is the point of a 100 megabit network adapter in 2021? I'll admit this is my own fault as I assumed the product feature description "Ethernet" meant "gigabit ethernet", but I don't understand why this is even optional at this time. The ethernet port was the main reason for this purchase, and around 2000 "Fast Ethernet" really isn't what I was expecting.
