The strap was a different leather than the bag...it was more like tassel leather and very soft, like suede. The bag itself is rougher (but still very soft, just different). The strap looks faded in comparison, which annoys me because the bag is nice (you can actually see the difference because I have a black bag). However, it's a large size as it's not too big, but it holds a lot. I still use it every day despite the strap and it fits everything in it and more: full sized wallet, key case, sunglasses/pouch, cell phone, tote bag, mints, lotion, sanitizer, pepper spray, AirPods and all those little things and like pens , lipstick, blotters, etc. I have many shoulder bags and they are either too small or too heavy. I would think about changing the strap.
