Review on Cherry Brown Urbanears Plattan 2 Bluetooth On-Ear Headphone by Charles Collier

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Disappointing. Muffle music audio. (Edit: tricky bluetooth connection).

I cannot recommend these Bluetooth Plattan 2s. Use with Google Music app and Youtube app on Pixel 2 Android phone. Standard mode handles music from Google Music and Youtube very poorly. Vocal tracks like stand-up or interviews sound ok, but anything containing bass sounds like muddy mush. It managed to fix the problem with the Google Music app's built-in equalizer function, but this severely limited the available volume. Spotify seems to sound better on headphones, but I bought into the Google Music platform first. The aesthetic design of the headphones and the user interface are fantastic. I've had a pair of their wired Plattans, which were zen until they fell apart after 18 months of heavy use. I really liked these headphones and can't tell if they were unreliable or just so good that I used them to the point of failure. I expected the same level of enjoyment from this wireless model. It was a disappointment. The battery life seems to be exemplary. They're great for listening to spoken language, but I found listening to music unbearable. My Walmart Bluetooth headphones have the best sound quality when listening to music. Apps with built-in equalizer settings can alleviate the confusion of the default equalizer settings on these headphones. Good design with extremely disappointing music sound quality. I'm currently looking into return options. Maybe, the headphones are primarily designed to communicate with the iPhone and iTunes. On my Android with Google Music it's kind of a disaster. (Edit: Down from 2 stars to 1 star. The Bluetooth connection between my Pixel 2 and Plattan 2 is significantly poorer and more prone to audio dropouts than any of my other Bluetooth audio devices. The product may work on the iPhone and into the Apple ecosystem, but turns out it's not worth the introductory price for me and my devices).
