Like others, I find Gobe filters to be flawless and of satisfactory quality. I have a survival story to add. I was at work on the podium under the dome of our telescope, doing an on/off polarizer comparison of some autumn gold foliage colors in the forest below, when a gust of wind and my own clumsiness snatched the filter from my hand. He fell three and a half stories straight and landed on a glass surface instead of a ledge. On *rocks* on the ground below. Three and a half stories. Rock. On the podium, clear as a bell, the sound of glass hitting rock was unmistakable and frightening. When I went back and took out the filter thinking I had just destroyed my new filter all it had was a 1mm long scratch on the glass. The scratch is so small that no matter how hard I try, I can't see it in photos with different, evenly lit backgrounds. Kudos to Gobe (and Schott) for making an amazingly durable filter that survived a three and a half story drop onto rocks with just a small cosmetic scratch where the glass surface hit the rock on landing. I'm stunned that the glass didn't shatter or crack. From now on I only buy Gobe filters.
