Xikar 3D Mayan cutter

Well for a cutter at this price level and a Xikar cutter for that matter, I had expected quite a better finish. I know about silver design so I am looking at this product a bit differently. The details in the relief could be a bit sharper. There is a gap at the top left outside where the edge relief is attached to the blade as well. The welds are great though. There is some rubber glue to hide the welds, which will wear away over time revealing the welds on the inside. Now from a cutting point of view the right (under) blade has a nice smooth precise action, the left (top) blade however sticks quite a bit. So much so that the cutter almost becomes a single guillotine blade. Quite disappointing for a cutter at this price point. I have other $40 double guillotines that have a superior / smoother cutting action than this.So in short if you want a piece of art this is an interesting cutter. If you just want a nice double guillotine cutter, you can look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Great cutter
Cons
  • The cutting depth of the Xikar Xi3 Mayan Double Guillotine is not adjustable, which can be frustrating for those who prefer more customization in their cutting process
