Construction The case is very nice and all the units are perfect. However, the gold-plated mmcx raises the usual concerns of loosening if the cable is disconnected many times, unlike, say, the beryllium-plated mmcx used by the competition. The stranded wire has a slight difference between the left and right, with the left side being slightly longer by a few. mm. Nothing that stands out right away, but at this price point I expect the best QC to be plausible. Comfort At first they weren't bad at all. However the fitment was the same as most other items with memory wire hooks etc. My complaint is the case edges on the case. They do not conform to the contour of the ear and as a result quickly dig into the cartilage and cause a sore point. Ergonomics do not match aesthetics. Bass Being a hybrid IEM, the dynamic driver inside gives the normally anemic BA drivers the bass they need. There is sub-bass and some mid-bass, although it's set back slightly and I would even say the bass is light. U-shape if you will. The mids are a mix of lower male vocals, take a step back and the mid bass is lighter than I would have liked. I'm not a bassist either. But the magic is in the female vocals. They are brighter at first, but sound very romantic. An extrapolation of what romance means. Female vocals have a very defined tone/timbre and beauty that male vocals lack. Male vocals lack mid-bass weight and authority, while Stella beautifully wraps female vocals. Treble Definitely a brighter IEM. I do experience fatigue with prolonged use of the Stella, but the cost is undoubtedly worth the slight discomfort. They have great air and expanse. Search details are very good. Using Hugo2 and Shanling M0 to test Stella; I found that Stella had lost much of her resolve or ability to convey the song's small nuances with the lower frequencies. They scale, and quite well. They mask some of the distortion my HD800 S would introduce on certain tracks where it was originally present in the recording. Scene When I listen to Yossi Horikawa's tracks like Bubbles or Distance I immediately get a huge sense of depth and a good scene. Neither the stage nor the size impresses in any case. Width when panning left and right is above average to good, but front and rear depth sensation is amazing. When listening to a live recording on stage, I hear the singer in the center and the exact number of steps behind him/her in the background. there are singers. Rarely have I experienced such a 3D holographic sound experience when listening to stuff like Vega, Andromeda, Er4sr for comparison. Image The magic sauce really lies in its coherence and intersection. I've always been a fan of solo riders. The crossover often causes phasing issues and other factors that make me prefer it like the Etymotic without the crossover as it's the only driver, but the Stella somehow does. Its coherence may not be one of the best, if not the best, multi-channel driver I've heard. The resulting transient resolution, realism, and ability to accurately track an object and place it in space and time are unmatched. Andromeda is definitely better suited to a wider range of music genres, while Stella is superb and unmatched for jazz, acoustic and female vocals. Suffer when it comes to male vocals and mid-bass.
