Review on πŸͺ’ Braun Series 9 Pro 9465cc Electric Razor: Wet & Dry Foil Shaver with ProLift Trimmer, SmartCare Center - Noble Metal by Lisa Charlton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I had hoped for more. . .

I've been using Braun shavers since 2004, right after school. I try to stay clean-shaven at work and usually shave every 2 days or so before it's insanely noticeable. I would say I have fairly thick hair but to be honest nothing that a Braun shaver would bother too much with. I have been using the Braun Series 7 wet/dry shaver for about 5 years. LOVES this razor. But since I use it with shaving cream, they just get dirty over time. The shaver head also does not rotate and, more importantly to me, the trimmer head is starting to fail. So I took the risk and opted for the new 9 series. In short: the real shaving head is TOO BIG! I'm an average height guy of 5'10/190lbs. Nothing in my physical characteristics is considered abnormal. So who the hell needs a shaving head that big? They have 2 foil razors that work great. But they have these 2 trimmers in the middle to get some bigger hair and trim it. But here's the thing. . . why 2? I tried shaving after 4 days of growth thinking medium trimmers might actually work and save me time. You could. . . depending on your pain tolerance. Your hair is still stuck in the foil before it hits the center trimmers, so is it a shave as much as a pluck? The second trimmer you stuffed into your head is the cause of the extra volume in your head. . . they don't work as well as you thought (unless the pain is on purpose). My second problem is the actual trimmer attachment. The design of this nozzle is just terrible. It feels cheap like it's about to detach from the back of the device. Also, you can't bring the trimmer to your face because a plastic lip prevents that. In order to get the trimmer to actually do anything, you have to angle the entire razor at such an awkward angle that it's difficult to see where you're cutting. On my old 7 and all before that, if I haven't shaved for a few days, I use the trimmer head as a "pre-cut" to prevent unwanted pulling of hairs that are too long for a foil razor. So this Series 9 needs such a poorly designed, low powered trimmer that is almost useless. . . I was so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this razor does the job. One of the best shaving results you can get from an electric razor. I like their wet/dry nature because I use shaving cream. I find that the cleaning base is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the last series. . . However, the power cord doesn't seem to latch properly, but that could just be my device. If this was my first look at Braun shavers I would still be very satisfied. Not dazed but happy. As a regular Braun user who just wanted to upgrade to something better. . . I can't help but feel like it's a smaller device than the Series 7. (By the way, I hate typing this because I can't stand it when people compare a 2019 razor to something they've had since 1998, but in this case they only said 5 years). If I could repeat that. . . . Instead, I'd probably pick up the Series 7 for around $175. Sorry Brown, I hope the next episode doesn't get bigger and worse.

Pros
  • I always liked it
Cons
  • I won't say anything
