Didn't work for me in Charcoal Bags

I have a van with a "dirty athletic shoes" smell that I can't get rid of and these bags were my last resort. I've tried these and they work for others but not for me. I had to go back. I also didn't like that you couldn't see what was in the bags. From what I understand it could be salt rocks. It would be helpful if the outer burlap could be opened to ensure there is actually charcoal inside.
