Listen to me because this is interesting. I have this lava lamp that I love. It uses 40w A15 type incandescent bulbs so I bought these. I have changed the bulbs in this lamp for the past twenty-two years. In my many years of experience, light bulbs have two states: working and burned out. There is no intermediate. So far I've sorted out about six bulbs from this pack. It seems that about one in three of these lamps only partially melts the wax in the lamp. The only conclusion I can draw is that there are quality control issues and these bulbs are not delivering a reliable 40W. At the same time, my eyes do not recognize the difference in brightness. So if you're thinking of using them as a heat source and not just a light source, you should probably buy something else.
