Review on Razer Opus: Premium Wireless ANC Gaming Headset with THX Certification in Sleek Black Design by John Clark

Disappointed

In 2018 I wanted full size wireless headphones. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so after reading the reviews I chose MPOW H5. I wasn't expecting much from a pair of $50-$80 Bluetooth headphones, but when I got them I was blown away by how great and balanced they sound and how fantastic the noise-cancellation is. Everything connected with no problems, my phones, my computer, everything ran smoothly. Battery life was excellent. I've been using a lot of these since 2018 and eventually the vinyl ear tips started peeling off exposing some foam. I don't really feel it but thought I'd start buying headphones again before they go bad. I read a few more reviews, decided to spend a little more this time and settled on this Razer Opus. Headphone site reviews say the sound was fantastic for the money ($140). I expected at least a sound improvement from the much cheaper Mpow, but no. They sound a lot less balanced, the noise reduction isn't that good. They didn't sound bad, just not an improvement over MPOW. But it gets worse. I can't connect them to my Windows 10 PC I've just spent the last 90 minutes troubleshooting, updating headphones firmware, reinstalling Bluetooth drivers, updating Bluetooth drivers, etc. to no avail. They connect to my computer via Bluetooth, but not as an audio device, which is obviously a big problem. There is a great failure here. Android connectivity was fine, but 90% of my usage is on my PC. I think I'll send them back.
