This is a good product for those who want to install an external camera, but it doesn't have to be a permanent mount. It is not permanently mounted and can be removed by the villains if they can reach it. I suggest using a ladder and rigging it high enough that it's not easily accessible from the ground. Otherwise it seems to work quite well. Provides more than enough flexibility to adjust the camera to the desired position. I already have a permanently installed wired camera for my front door so it works great with my battery powered outdoor camera, allowing me to move it around as I please without the need for permanent mounting.
