Review on Hosim Monster Terrain Control Scale by Tutan Hesch

Revainrating 2 out of 5

[Edited] Serious quality issues! There is a lot of value and quality packed into this kit.

[Edited] Hosim RC Trucks just don't have this quality. I bought two Hosim trucks (9125 and 2847). Both will bottom after normal use. This one blew up the differences (if you read the comments on Revain and other sites you can see this happens to almost everyone) and the 9125 has electronic issues. The battery died, the axles cracked, the differential broke and now the car won't start even after replacing the main ECU. Hosim doesn't reply to emails anymore so I'm assuming they don't support these trucks anymore. I would stay away from these trucks and spend a little more for a quality product. I came across this truck kit while looking for cheaper alternatives to what I've seen on the market at other online RC car retailers. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a kit for my 5 year old son without knowing for sure how much he would enjoy this hobby and if he would even be willing to ride these machines. I came across this kit at Revain and took a chance and ordered it. I know there are other places online where you can order it cheaper, but they are shipped from China and take a few weeks to arrive. It was at the local Revain warehouse and Prime was at my door the next day. As soon as I started unboxing this kit, I immediately saw that it was of the same high quality as the big top brands RC kits. The molded plastic parts appeared to be of quality material and had a good design. Metal parts were mixed in where extra strength was needed. Bearings, steel axle shafts and other vital parts were present as you would expect from a more expensive kit. I would say the only part in this kit that isn't up to the top end RC truck specs are the shock absorbers. While the shocks on this 9125 truck are adequate, they are not oil filled and therefore tend to be a bit springy. No big deal, just an observation. Overall, this truck drives exceptionally well! The road is grassy and muddy. it absorbs everything easily. So far (a couple of weeks of almost daily use. Yes my son loves it!) this truck has withstood all the abuse a 5 year old could throw at it. Not a single defective component! The only thing I've had so far is the A-arm coming loose from the ankle after a hard fall, but it was easy to reattach without tools and we didn't miss a beat. The dual motors are powerful but quieter than you might be. expect. The controller offers both slow and fast speed which is very useful in my case as I keep it at a slower speed (still fast enough) for my son as he has learned to control it without crashing too much. At top speed, this truck negotiates jumps and obstacles like you would expect from a $400 RC truck. My advice, unless you are a dedicated enthusiast or need competition quality, get this kit instead of big name models that cost multiples more than this kit. Especially if you are buying it for a child. It will be everything a kid could wish for in an RC truck.
