My kitten is 4 months old and has lots of energy. We got him a 5-story scratching post, but he didn't like it very much. It scratches the edge of my sofa, armchair and window blinds. We bought this scratching toy to see if he could burn off some energy on it. That works great! I found I can put it right on top of the scratching post and it's the perfect size and color. My kitten now spends a lot of time on the scratching post and has started sleeping on the tree during the day. Installation was pretty easy and seems pretty solid. It would be a plus if the company provided washers for two small screws, but I keep a few in my tool box so it's no big deal. Overall great product!
