This bag has a smooth feel and is very comfortable. I read on my iPad at night, and when it's time for bed I have a bad habit of resting my iPad on whatever it's going to sit on. I wake up to find a few small dents from things I place my iPad on and notice that it's gone within minutes of laying it flat or just leaving it somewhere where the case doesn't dent , returning to its usual smooth, smooth surface appearance. I think it's a foam-like material. This is my first iPad case and it fits me very well. I'm using the "Supershieldz Apple iPad Pro 11" Anti-Glare and Anti-Fingerprint (Matte) screen protector and it only lifted the screen protector a little once, but because I was fiddling with the case, one downside is that the lid doesn't hold when I hold it like in the last photo I don't know if that's normal with this type of case but it doesn't close with a magnet when you hold the iPad like a barbarian The sleep function works well with the lid on but if you hold the iPad face down while staying closer to the curve it will pop up. A simple fix doesn't keep it that way. Also, I love this case. It charges the Apple Pencil 2nd gen. Generation perfectly, the pen fits like a glove in the slot of the sleeve.
