Review on Cuisinart WMR-CA Round Classic Waffle Maker, Silver, 1: The Perfect Breakfast Companion by Julie Burton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not what it used to be - much lower quality than a decade ago.

Someone gave us one of these for our wedding 12 years ago. It was used every other weekend throughout that time, and like many heat-producing devices, the heating element simply wore out over time. We definitely got our money's worth and when that failed we decided to buy another similar one because it was so good. This one looks just like our old one, but definitely doesn't have the same build quality or performance as our old one. The hinge was loose and wobbly out of the box, the thermostat lacked accuracy (no difference between settings 3 and 5), the heating element burned the center of the waffle leaving the outside raw and undercooked, it even ran at less than 1 / above. 4 cups of the recipe recommended batter and the waffles are invariably gooey! We returned the first item we ordered after it was such poor quality thinking it was just defective and ordered another one. It wasn't a defect - the second had the same flaws: flimsy construction, useless temperature control, uneven cooking, and flat waffle plates. This is very bad. This used to be a great product but Cuisinart made it cheaper - I recommend looking elsewhere for a waffle maker.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Very expensive
