AS A CUTTER! Like you I read the reviews and thought people are just getting it wrong. I should have read more carefully. They are complete cheap junk. The wire is too weak to push the thread through the needle and if you push too hard it will bend and break. If you want something to hold the needle during insertion, this might work. Haven't tried this end yet so can't tell but as a needle threader it's a waste of money; So don't buy it to use as a threader or you'll be wasting your money like me.
