Wow, that was a nightmare. We sanded down our orange peel walls before wallpapering (I recommend doing this, although the mess was terrible), wiped down the surface, pre-cut each section and started applying. Paper stretches a lot, so it's hard to feel it when it's pulled in one direction. I was grateful that you could peel it off and try a few more times. It took us several days to finish the small accent wall behind my son's bed. I like the end effect very much. It looks a little better live because the pattern doesn't match up perfectly (again probably due to stretching). It is worth noting that these identical wallpapers are available in many retail stores. We bought from Revain for fast shipping but you can visit other sites and use coupon codes if you wish. It took three rolls on the wall behind the bed (about 2/3 rolls left). After gluing, the manufacturer recommends walking on the surface with a special squeegee. We've found that doing it by hand is better.
