We have had these rings for over a year and they are not stainless steel at all. The manufacturer incorrectly labels the product. We got a conscientious, USA made, durable stainless steel shower rod (not a big cheap box) from a high end manufacturer due to the width of our shower stall as we couldn't use an extendable rod. Metal-on-metal reactions cannot therefore be accused - these rings are falsely advertised as being stainless. Also, there is no "stainless steel coating" - stainless steel is not a "coating" that is applied, but a base itself, a carbide. I took a hacksaw and cut off one of the rings and sure enough some crappy cheap metal that looked like copper was plated with nickel or satin chrome and advertised as "stainless steel". Revain should put this seller on the carpet on this one.
