I no longer carry a checkbook in my purse, but I still keep checks, cash, and 2 pens in my desk drawer. My grandmother used to make elastic, I used elastic for many years. I finally decided to order this and I'm wondering why it took so long. The skin is really beautiful, with a matte finish, very soft to the touch. The stitching is clean, neat and very discreet. It contains my checkbook, my register and 2 pens (red and black). that although the spine has a slot for a pen or pencil, I just put my 2 pens in the magazine. It's easier for me to just pick the right pen, and the pen acts as a placeholder. The lid snaps easily and holds the handles in place. Very very happy with this purchase.
