The Dad Person asked to review these whistles because he has been a ref for over 20 years. I listened to the "real" whistle and this one in the test run. This whistle was less shrill and a slightly different sound. It just didn't carry as far as the expensive whistle.Dad's own words below:I referee basketball and volleyball. I know my whistles. If buying 3 of these at the same price as one Fox40 sounds too good to be true, It is. The holes in the whistle may look like the professional whistle but upon closer inspection, they are too big, Therefore the sound is not as strong as the professional whistle. If you want this whistle to use at the lake or on the playground, it is a fine whistle. But if you are in a crowded arena with a thousand screaming fans, I want the professional whistle in my mouth. If you are not familiar with the whistle, it is pealess, so it does not have that rolling sound of a pea whistle. Hard to rate durability. But it doesn't feel like I could bite through it on my first bad call.
