Rigid reversible leather and PU combination belt looks good but durability is questionable

Wearing at work. This reversible belt is elegant and pairs well with black or blue pants on the black side and khaki/tone brown pants on the brown side. The belt is made from a combination of bonded leather and polyurethane. Bonded leather is basically a waste left over from other uses that is shredded, mixed with polyurethane (PU) and then extruded into a shape. While it may look like 100% leather, it does have some downsides. First, bonded leather is inelastic, so it will tear with use and the PU and leather strips will peel off. In addition, bonded leather/PU does not penetrate the product as deeply as 100% leather, making scratches more visible. It looks and smells like leather. I think the material just won't last long (belts don't last long anyway). My husband has a size 32 waist and we have a size 36 belt. Seems to be the right size. The construction/stitching on this belt is very good and even. This tape is very thick and stiff. It is a bit tricky to thread the belt through the metal frame of the buckle and into the loop (actually the metal loop scratches the skin so I advise you to thread it very slowly and carefully. If you are not careful, the metal pin on the Buckle can also scratch skin He's only worn a pair of belts once and I can already see marks on the brown side where the loop scratched the belt and pulled it through because it's so tight there on the black side (they shine on to be less visible on this side) It's easy to switch between the two sides: just pull out the bezel and rotate it 180 degrees and then drop it back into the setting. This strap has been rolled up nice and thick in a tissue paper box. But i think in the future i will buy reversible straps on a clothes rack and not online if i can because the strap keeps the spool in. not too bad if you get the brown one side, but it bulges out the black side buckle I don't know how many times and it will take sooner, it wasn't that noticeable (it's been a few weeks at the moment). Overall it's good value for money and looks like a 100% leather belt and the buckle is strong but I have concerns about how the leather will hold up. On the one hand it's good to use waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, on the other hand there's a reason it's waste - the quality of the waste isn't very good. I don't like how stiff it is and how it curls outward on the black side. At the moment when he's working from home he doesn't use the belts that much so we'll make more living out of it than normal years but I think if he wore it every day it wouldn't last long.

Pros
  • 100% leather
Cons
  • Some issues
