Looks too "shiny" and almost "fake" in the pictures, in real life the gold tone and the design is definitely much nicer. I bought this for my 7 year old son to teach him about clocks and how to tell the time from analogue clocks (and a little bit about respecting and taking care of things). Didn't expect to find such a good watch but was really impressed, I think I'll buy it sometime (maybe in silver and gold). I'm not sure what the standby time is, but I'm assuming it's less than a day, but who knows, maybe you can work longer without starting it. The workmanship is of high quality and polished to a high gloss. Dual "Hunter" covers are what he wanted, and both are opened by successively pressing the crown. I imagine that for less than half the price of this watch you could get a really basic manual wind watch, but you end up with a gaudy/ugly watch - these look very good and are tasteful. I doubt this will ever be an heirloom, but it would make a nice statement compared to a $20 Timex wristwatch, or no watch at all — which seems to be the trend as cell phones go offline. For the price, I'd say this is definitely a 'buy'. You can find a 100-year-old clock for about twice as much as this one, but it will likely take work to get or keep in working order - this piece may lack a bit of antique "charm" or "history" , but I will actually use it (not going back to the watch shop all the time) and I won't feel guilty about putting it in my pocket day after day either.
