Review on Potensic Dreamer Pro Drones: Ultimate Camera Quadcopter for Adults - 2KM FPV Range, 28min Flight, GPS, 3-Axis Gimbal by Jacob Diego

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Durable drone, definitely NOT a toy.

This is my third drone, I decided to up my drone game. It comes with a very nice case that can hold 3 spare batteries (if you leave one battery in the drone) along with the standard accessories. I have a phone that was designed to be used with a drone and also fits in a case. The drone is big and can do damage if you lose control of it. So be extra careful if you are a beginner! I had some starting problems. When you first turn it on, there are a few things that are a little confusing. The default behavior for most devices is press and hold to power on and/or off. This drone requires you to press and release the power button on the battery and then press it again for two seconds. Similarly, to turn it off you must press and release and then hold until it turns off. The markings on the screws are clearly visible and color-coded (red for CW, gray for CCW); but the propeller markings on the drone body are not easy to see and you MUST put the correct propellers in the correct position or your drone will crash on takeoff! You can put the supports on the wrong hands - they won't fit quite right, but you can skip that. I plan to apply a black dot to my hands counter-clockwise with a magic marker to make it more visible. Installing the props was a breeze - you literally have to line them up, push and twist to lock them in place. Make sure the dust cover on the right side of the gimbal is properly installed - mine wasn't and this caused me to get the "camera stabilizer overloaded" message. Be careful when removing the gimbal stabilizer. Finally, I kept getting the message that the SD card was not inserted, even though it was clearly there. I uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times before it was recognized and then said I need to format it. There weren't any clear instructions on how to do this - I finally found it in the camera settings. After taking some pictures and video and checking on my laptop, the drone complained again that the card wasn't there after I put it back in - had to pop it in and out a couple of times - hopefully it's just one unreliable card and no problem with the card slot. I am in the process of requesting a replacement card from Potensic Support. The video is crisp, clear, color balanced, bright and smooth, way better than my previous toy drones - and there's no noticeable fisheye distortion! The phone shows how many satellites it sees much better than traditional displays. I believe you will get the best remote FPV video if you don't rely on Wi-Fi. I can't wait for my first long flight, just hold it close to me until I'm more comfortable. UPDATE: April 14, 2021 In the end the card had to be replaced because the SD card was not recognized. Turning on a new drone required a firmware update for both the drone and the camera, and the update started automatically; However, during this process, the drone started beeping and flashing, and everything went wrong. The camera update got stuck at 4% for a long time (>15 minutes), forcing me to turn off the drone and controller. Then the most interesting began (NOT!) - the camera update was completed, but after that the controller and the drone were not connected. I've tried submitting feedback through the app and then contacting Potensic support via email, but still no response (>24 hours). The manual didn't say anything about what was going on. In desperation I went to YouTube and came across a video for the Potensic Dreamer 4K that talked about pairing the controller with the drone when they weren't paired. I thought it was worth a try and voila! it worked. I made a short video. Although the drone was visibly shaking in the wind, the video was very stable. Cardin did his job. I had to deduct a star due to the relatively lack of support and insufficient documentation. UPDATE: 06/14/2021 Well, unfortunately I still have to deduct a star, but not because of the drone, but because of the support (actually the lack of it); When paying such money, spare parts MUST be available. The drone is heavy and when I accidentally crashed it and it fell on the rocks, it crashed many times. The problem is you can't get related parts. All I could find was the camera, props and other small parts - you can't get a new body, chassis, nothing. After several emails with Potensic, the only offer I got was an "employee discount" coupon, but since the drone was now inflated I ended up paying more for the "deal" than the original. Drone.
