Very good, pointing the way. The round end is where you touch your finger to turn it on and off. If you leave your finger on the end, the light will start to dim and it will become very dim, but not completely extinguished. If you let go after dimming but want it a little brighter, you can touch and hold again to get a brighter light level. After turning off, it keeps turning back on at 100%. As far as I can tell, there is no preset or memory option on this light. A good basic flashlight for a small price.
