Review on Manfrotto 026 Lite Tite Umbrella Adapter by Jeremy Romero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A worthy upgrade from cheaper analogues.

This is a definite improvement over the cheaper umbrella adapters I've bought in the past. I really like that it comes with 3/8 - 1/4 rivets, both male and female. Since I've used them with LED video lights (1/4 to 20 holes), I didn't need a cold shoe. So if you're mounting a flash, make sure you also have a cold shoe adapter. The cocking knobs/levers are solid and have great leverage. The rocker arm is the fold-out lever. It's spring-loaded, so you can pull the lever out and twist without the bolt snagging. This allows you to move it to "snap" the bolt if it has a gear piece that would otherwise block full rotation of that lever. Considering which parts are most likely to move, Manfrotto has used the most leverage where it makes sense. The toggle pin gets the most leverage. The top stud bushing is second leverage thanks to a sliding lever that allows it to be tightened when full rotation is blocked. And the bottom bolt has a smaller crank - you don't need as much torque. I have known this screen adapter for many years, but have opted for cheaper ones in the past. Never.
