Well I took a chance and bought the $8 jacket. I think the old adage "you get what you pay for" really played a role here. I liked the olive green. The jacket is heavy, but with a light long-sleeved t-shirt, it will keep a person warm. Mind you I said long sleeves - why? because it has a silky nylon lining throughout the jacket that when it rubs the hair on my arms creates static electricity and makes them stand up in an annoying way. I'm 5ft 5in and 190lbs and I'm a size XL and it fits perfectly. It's not bulky but heavy. As said, it keeps you warm if you like to wear carpet because that's the feel of the material on the outside - not soft and plush at all. Like an old high-pile carpet from the 70s. Save your $8 and buy something on sale you can feel - maybe Walmart - they have great fleece for about the same price.
