They are very popular for joining the edges of 1/2 " birch plywood.
Great alternative to screws and dowels. Assemble an intricate tiered shelving system using Titebond and dowels. Very easy to use and look just as good or even better than normal round dowels (the dowels in particular are handmade from dowel rods).
