Review on MidWest Dog Crate Cover: Optimal 🐶 Privacy & Easy Cleaning for MidWest Dog Crates by Liz Lee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lightweight, fits perfectly, does what it's supposed to.

The only thing that could take this product from 99.9% to 100+% would be if there were some sort of ties or some way to attach it to the box, at least on two sides but preferably at three. and a way to tie the flap to the side of the door. We only use one of the doors in our 2 door 54" cage and while it fits perfectly my dog has had severe separation anxiety since he was 3 years old. in and out of foster homes and animal shelters and although he has been with us for almost two years now and we do everything our trainers and behavioral vets tell us, he still doesn't come out of it alone. And yes, we even tried putting him on meds... He weighs over 100 pounds (100+ lbs) Foxy Dog (½ Foxhound ½ Great Dane) and his metabolism is just burning up from all the meds we've tried... and seriously, we've tried everything and every combination of drugs, he may react at first but after an hour or two at most it goes away and he's even more frustrated so we don't treat anymore. DEFINITELY! Let's get back to the rating! We needed a 54" X-LARGE cage, our guy is LARGE even though he THINKS he's the same size as a Chihuahua! This cover is really the only one on the market that fits the drawer and is made to any quality. I really like that the fabric is light but not flimsy. Fits perfectly in the drawer, velcro straps on each corner make the cover extremely easy and safe to put on and use! (Even my husband can take this bedspread on and off with ease!) THE ONLY... ONLY...THE ONE THING that would make this bedspread go up in a completely ridiculous way would be if ties were added to secure the bedspread to the drawer, and the presence of binding for door panels to keep them up and out of the way when the door is open. The reason I say this is causing my dogs the separation anxiety described above. Frightened, he tries to pry the lid off his box by pulling it through the bars. He's so stupid he won't go in the box unless it's covered, nice and dark but once inside he still tries to take the whole lid off and then gets even crazier even with the lid open stays because now he didn't cover anymore... The first few times we tried to use him on her he couldn't completely remove the lid of the box but he was able to pull it off a bit and put it in his cage. (That says a lot about the fit and quality of this item, because even in his insane state, the side Velcro straps held tight, he just found a way to lift the lid before beginning to pull it into the drawer itself.) So left I went to the store to do needlework, bought a solid fabric, from which he then made his own ties and sewed them to the ceiling. Now I have four ties at the bottom of one of the long sides and three ties at the bottom. from two short sides. I placed the ties so there was one for each corner and could also tie the middle. I use them to securely tie the lid to the bottom of his drawer (under the drawer and bed so he can't reach them). Adding these bands to the three sides we don't use makes the BIGGEST difference. ! Now he knows he can't take the lid off because it's actually locked (and yes... he tried VERY hard to figure out how to thwart my plan!) and amazingly he's actually calming down faster now because that he is I don't care about the cover anymore. As for the bindings of the upper valves. I attached two Velcro straps to the front top seam of the flap where our door is so I can secure it and get it out of the way before opening his door and meeting the ridiculously lucky nuclear warhead escaping from his door. Box to come over to me so he can show me how happy he is that I'm back. The very first time we used the slipcover before making my additions, I wasn't expecting the panel to move towards me and the door and he was almost overcome with a blast of canine excitement. If it were to snag on the door I imagine it would rip, not because of the quality of the fabric but simply because of the sheer force and fury of the door being thrown open under the full weight of my massive dog. :D and that was before I fixed the other sides! But seriously, this is a 99.99999% perfect product! I love the fabric, the fit and the quality. He loves his dark hiding spot when I'm at home, I just need the extra security that ties give us when unfortunately I have to leave the house and he can't come with me. In the future, these features will each be added to a "new version" of the same sized hull. You have the perfect product tester ready! ;) *wink*
