This is the perfect little bag with lots of compartments inside and out. The material it is made of is very pleasant to the touch (nylon or poly?). I think it will be waterproof in light rain/splash. I can put my 13" laptop in it but I can't close it. However, it's perfect for a tablet and lots of other stuff like your phone, pens, wallet and all those little things you need to carry around. I also like the wide opening at the top of the bag. Think of an old-fashioned purse that closes with a latch? Then zip it open and you're done. I wouldn't rely on the risers when carrying heavy loads as they are not soft and slippery. I only put on one strap, if worn for a long time the straps can cut into the shoulders (with a heavy load). I was looking for an identical bag only it's a little bigger so I can carry my laptop but unfortunately it's only that size.
