Some fit better than others.
I bought a medium length rainbow stripe pant and a white striped double pant. I love how the rainbow pair sits while the other pair looks more like leggings. I'm 5'6", 135-140 lbs, with wide hips and a small waist, and these sweatpants flatter my hourglass figure very well. However, if my waist were just an inch wider, the belt would be too tight (which is what square ones do). or apple shaped figures) In general I recommend going up a size, especially if you want a roomy fit or if you have more weight on your stomach than your buttocks.
