Review on πŸ”Š Experience Unmatched Audio: Introducing the a.m.p SP1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Black) by Jackie Wilson

Disappointing machine. . .

I was hoping to solve two problems with this device and it solved one and a half of them. First, I use my smartphone for work and most of my calls require me to take notes on my laptop, making it uncomfortable to hold the phone to my ear. So I usually use the speakerphone option; but there are difficulties with it. My Samsung SGIII can handle many tricks, but its speaker is hoarse and some voices are unintelligible. Secondly, the options for a Bluetooth headphone and wired headphones are difficult for me. Headphones advertise a lot but the sound quality is about the same as the phone and usually only in one ear; and the wired approach makes it difficult to move my arms to work when I'm on the phone. I've seen this device advertised as solving the audio problem and with the added appeal of a microphone for phone calls. It wasn't much more expensive than a headset, so I bought it. Setup and pairing was easy. But the problem with the device was immediately apparent. The speaker, as said, has a narrow mid-range with some highs and a very muddy base, essentially the level of an old single-speaker AM radio. Worse, the mic almost didn't catch. Every caller complained that they couldn't hear me speak. After researching the materials provided and other materials on the internet, I increased the gain on the speaker as much as possible and used the smartphone's volume control to adjust the sound. At very high volume, the speaker wheezes and distorts; turning down the volume over the phone got better. But nothing could help the microphone. It's under a hole at the top of the device to the right of the volume buttons, which wrap around the settings button. I've tried putting the speaker at the end of my desk and moving it around for better fidelity, but all my callers have complained. Unfortunately a good idea, but with such a bad microphone the device is useless for me.
