I like the color and it seems to change between.

The jury hasn't decided on this color yet. I have a previously painted metal front door. I used the Zinser 123 primer which indicates if your new paint color is lighter than your old one. (I already had gray on hand so I just used that.) My door used to be burgundy so I primed it with gray paint before using that color in Optimistic. I applied a few coats of primer and then started trying out this color. I painted 4 layers. FOUR and I'll stick with 4. I think it's completely closed but I guess unless it's my front door it doesn't get used that much. I like the color and it seems to alternate between yellow and orange. I'd say it's a yellow school bus, a yellow dotted line down the middle, or a yellow warning sign (not the new reflective ones). I've been working on this with a panel on the front glass door last week until our new trim is ready so I can get a whole new look right away. So no, I haven't seen it in all its glory. I will say that. I think it's $40+? no It's a liter of paint that looked like an odd consistency that requires 4 or more coats after priming! It's crazy and a lot of work, especially when I've been told people hate this color and I need to repaint it. (her opinion, but still) My front door gets really hot so we'll see if the front door paint really holds up. I found this online while browsing paint colors and Pinterest. To be honest I should have just gone to a hardware store, gotten a professional opinion and had a regular front door paint in a chipped paint color that I could mix. cheaper again. Guilty. I just hope that after all the work I put into it, it all works out in the end. I'll update later with pictures and how it handles the heat. Here are a few photos before the siding was completed. Once after 4 layers and done. The rest after 1 coat and then 3 coats. I painted it 4 times to fully cover the door and make it even, but as you can see it has changed color.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Almost OK
