Didn't think I needed a visualizer. I figured the fax on my printer was all I needed for all the documents I wanted to scan. THEN reality intervened. I am working with a manuscript that was written over 40 years ago. I'm concerned that the paper is fragile - too fragile to fit through my printer's ADF. The light from the scanner may also not be good for the paper. Sometimes I also want to copy pages from bound books. Again with a scanner, I have to open a book, maybe it's not a risk to break your spine. If I want to scan a solid object, I can just forget to use my printer's scanner. I looked at the two document cameras and they came to my rescue. I can open the camera, connect it to my computer and I'm good to go. Fragile pages? I placed them one by one on the camera frame. Once I have the camera installed, I can take a very high quality picture of each side. If I don't need extreme camera quality, I can set a lower resolution. Since it's a dedicated camera, I'm not worried about bright light moving under the scanner paper. If I want to get an image of a page (or pages) from a book, I can be gentler with the spine of the book. Books. I can also use it to shoot at hard objects. When I'm not using the camera It folds down to a compact size so I can easily store it away until the next time I need a quality book camera, want to take a picture of a solid object, take a selfie, or join a video call. This camera can be used as a camera for an online meeting etc. as the camera can be rotated from the bed (where the paper rests) to a position that can be used to capture your face and participate in video presentations. It has a microphone and an LED light, so it's good for use in Zoom, Skype, and other video calls. I plan to use a lot of it.
