I use this thing to connect my work laptop to my existing desktop configuration. Works as advertised. I'm using a wired keyboard and wireless mouse (with a Logitech wireless gizmo plugged in where the mouse should be) and the combination seems to work well. The laptop wakes up through the mouse or keyboard, but the desktop won't turn on for some reason (I have to press the power button to wake it up). I'm not sure why this is happening, but in my situation it's not a problem since the button is easily accessible. Your mileage may vary. I don't use it for sound because the laptop doesn't have the ports required for it so I can't confirm if it works, but everything else switches fine so I don't understand why the sound isn't working. It takes about 2-3 seconds to toggle with the push of a button, which is acceptable.
